Jaijit Bhattacharya

Partner, Infrastructure & Government Services, KPMG, President, Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research (C-DEP) Adjunct Professor, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Dr. Jaijit Bhattacharya is a noted Governance Transformation expert and Partner at the International Consulting firm, KPMG. He is also Adjunct Professor at IIT Delhi. He is President of Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research. He has earlier worked in senior roles in Accenture, IBM, Oracle, Sun Microsystems and HP and has been the Founding Partner of Catallyst Constellations LLP. He has been responsible for the creation of the next generation of solutions for governments, based on open standards. Dr. Bhattacharya advises governments on e-governance strategies. He has conducted training for ADB institute in Tokyo on Public Expenditure Management and has helped World Bank develop curriculum for their e-Leadership program. He is deeply involved in Technology Policy making for the Indian Army and has coined the term "Technological Sovereignty", based on which he runs a National Conclave on Technological Sovereignty for the Indian Army and Centre for Land Warfare Studies. He also delivers invited lectures at INSEAD Singapore campus, IIT Roorkee and at IIM Calcutta. Dr. Bhattacharya has developed business models and strategies for leading companies in the IT, media and computer hardware industries. He has numerous research papers to his credit in leading journals and conferences. He has authored five books on e-Governance, including being the co-author of the first book on e-Governance in India, 'Government On-line - Opportunities and Challenges', published by McGraw Hill and released by the then Honourable President of India, Shri Abdul Kalam and author of the first e-Governance textbook book in the world, "e-Gov 2.0: Policies, Processes and Technologies" that was released by the Honorable Minister of Communication and IT, Shri Kapil Sibal. He is also the author of the first book on Privacy Middleware in the world. Dr. Bhattacharya did his PhD from Department of Computer Science and Engineering IIT Delhi, MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and B.,Tech in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Jayesh Ranjan

Jayesh Ranjan is a member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the 1992 batch and working in the state of Telanagan. He holds a Masters Degree in Psychology from Delhi University, a degree in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a Masters in Public Management from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore

Jayesh Ranjan is the Commissioner of Industries Managing Director of the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC). His responsibilities include identifying industrial development opportunities in the state, attracting investments, and providing the required infrastructure support to the industrial units. His previous assignments have been in the Tourism Department of the state government as its Secretary, and in Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) as Vice Chairman, both for 3 years each, and various rural assignments in different parts of the state for over 12 years.

Martin Rama

Martin Rama is the Chief Economist for the South Asia region of the World Bank, based in Delhi. Before that he was the Director of the World Development Report (WDR) 2013, on Jobs. Previously, for eight years, he was the Lead Economist for Vietnam, based in Hanoi. Prior to moving to operations, he spent ten years with the research department of the World Bank.

Martin Rama gained his degree in economics from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay) in 1981 and his Ph.D. in macroeconomics from the Université de Paris I (France) in 1985. Back to his home country, Uruguay, he worked in CINVE, the country's largest think tank. In parallel with his World Bank duties, he was visiting professor at the graduate program in development economics at the Université de Paris I until 2005.

Michael Mulquin

Michael Mulquin has been working for the last twenty years on how technology can help neighbourhoods, cities and regions work better. He is an active member of most of the European and International standards bodies working on developing standards and guidance documents for smart cities. He was technical author for a recently published British Standards Institution (BSI) publication: Smart cities - Guide to the role of the planning and development process, and is in the process of writing another BSI Guide to provide an overview of smart cities for city and industry leaders.

Philip Bane

Philip Bane is an expert in applying technology to achieve sustainability. He has been a pioneer in resource informatics for sustainability (managing multiple resources streams via integrated data management) and now, at the Smart Cities Council, assists cities plan and develop holistic, synergistic approaches for managing resources. Philip has held senior, global positions in sales, operations and law. He has taken a company public as its General Counsel, established businesses in Russia and India, and led complex, multi-million dollar projects managing data in the oil & gas industry. At Smart Cities Council, Philip is responsible for managing all day-to-day activities

Sabrina COCCIA

Sabrina COCCIA has been working in the IT industry for the past 20 years and is today an expert in strategy, international business development and marketing for the innovation and IT industry, specialized in Smart Cities.

Sabrina initially graduated in International Trade at the University of Lyon after spending two years studying abroad. She always liked to travel to open her mind and to be able to think "Out of the Box" as she definitely believes that this is the key for an innovative and better future.

She began her career as an international business development manager for the Telco industry, she then moved to the marketing and communication side of the job. She advised many innovative ICT start-ups and SMEs, in particular within the mobile telecommunication sector, with their strategy and international development.

During 5 years (from 2008 to 2013), Sabrina was at the head of the biggest cluster of innovation (140 members, representing 13.000 employees) based in Sophia Antipolis – France and matured a specific know­how of leading high-tech value projects in complex environment (PPP).

As a great animator of ecosystems, she organized many workshops and events around topics such as: mobile tourism, transport, e-health, smart grids...

She organized the first "Smart City" conference in France in 2011 in Nice bringing together politicians (Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice and other VPs of the "Metropole Nice Côte d'Azur"), architects and sociologists (FING…) to debate on "The citizen within the Smart City".

Sabrina created Smart Metropolis in 2013, a consultant agency specialized in strategy for Smart Cities. The goal of the agency is to lead cities, local authorities and metropolises to define they Smart Cities policies and projects based on innovation for an economic BUT sustainable development, ready to face the challenges of urbanization.

Smart Metropolis also helps young and innovative companies to develop their business worldwide on Smart Cities projects.

Sumit D Chowdhury

Dr. Sumit D Chowdhury, President of Reliance Jio and author of Management book 'Rules of the Game', has a diversified business leadership career spanning multi-national companies in US, Australia and India where he had led large professional services teams and telecommunications companies.

He is a proponent of a conscious city that is constantly becoming smart. He is working on creating a Smart City Information Grid (GAIA-Grid) that spans both the Network and Information Technology solutions that enable the creation and efficient operation of an intelligent Smart City across different domains. He is often called to speak and consult on Industrial Process Automation, telecom networks and internet/digital solutions, the essential ingredients of Smart Cities.

He has previously worked with IBM, Reliance ADAG, BearingPoint, and was a Partner with KPMG where his area of focus of Telecom & Energy Utilities. He graduated from IIT Kanpur and got an MS and Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University. Apart from work, he is passionate about music, marathons, modern art, mentoring and brings it all together with his motivational public speaking that is managed by The Outstanding Speakers Bureau. Shaishav Dharia

Development Director, Palava, Lodha Group Shaishav has over 15 years of experience in Consulting and Operations Strategy. He joined Lodha Group in 2010 as head of Strategy. Senior Consultant – Transport and IT GP, The World Bank, Founder Member - The Society for Promotion of e-Governance (SPeG) Vikas Kanungo is an e-Governance expert with more than 21 years of experience in the ICT for Development, e-Governance, mobile governance, knowledge management and Open Data. He specializes in use of SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud) Technologies for governments and has been providing policy and implementation consulting to government agencies and multilaterals in the Asia Pacific, Arab regions and European Union. He has been working with Indian Government on the issues relating to e-Governance policies including formulation of National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) both at the federal and state level.

In addition, Vikas Kanungo has been associated with key e-Governance initiatives and knowledge creation activities globally with various organizations. Vice – President, NSWAI Mr. Rahul Chhabra, a young, dynamic personality completed his masters in European business from France. On graduating, he founded 'Proton Enviro Solutions Pvt. Ltd.' with a vision of revolutionizing the waste industry in India through providing professional, state-of-the art solutions for integrated solid waste management with a commitment towards excellence. With his exceptional expertise in this field, NSWAI appointed him as the Vice President, NSWAI in 2013.

Since then, he has been working with municipalities across India to develop a more effective waste management system at a urban and rural level with strong focus on improving collection efficiency, effective waste transportation and maximal waste diversion. Mr. Rahul has developed first-of-a kind unique cost effective sustainable model for rural India based on an integrated solid waste management approach.

Architect-Planner A.K. Jain, an architect-planner, is currently involved with Smart Cities, Conservation of Cultural Heritage Yojana (HRIDAY) and Housing for All. An alumnus of Delhi School of Planning and Architecture, Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam and University of Birmingham, he was a member of the UN Habitat Research Advisory Board, and worked on UN Habitat Reports, 2009, 2011, and 2013’. Mehnaz Ansari

Mehnaz Ansari is the Country Representative for United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) based at US Embassy in New Delhi. She is responsible for managing USTDA’s India office operations and supports USTDA activities in advancing host country development priorities, US industry trade interest and US government foreign policy objectives. Vince Berkhout

Vince Berkhout has an Honours degree in Geography (University of Western Australia) and a Masters in Town and Country Planning (University of Sydney), and over 30 years planning experience in Australia, Hong Kong and India.

He leads AECOM India's Design, Planning + Econom ics group, based in Delhi. AECOM is a publicly-listed professional services consultancy with offices in 140 countries.

His experience includes Local and State Government and private consulting focussed on metropolitan and regional scale land use planning, masterplanning, policy, and infrastructure delivery.

Vince's recent project experience includes leading the land use planning for a High Speed Rail Feasibility Study for the Australian Government, and a strategy for the expansion of Sydney's inner city light rail. Currently he is Team Leader on a new masterplan for "New Chandigarh", and Team Leader for the Masterplan for the Global City at Manesar-Bawal on the SW edge of Delhi, to be developed along Smart City principles.

S.R. Shrivastava

During his more than 25 years of service he has worked at Mumbai, Bhopal, Indore, Aurangabad, Pune, Ahmedabad in various capacities as Astt. Ex. Emgg , Ex. Engg and Suptd. Engg. Currently he is posted as Chief Engineer NRDA on deputation at Naya Raipur since 2009.

He has the experience in Planning , Designing and Construction of Buildings, Towers, Underground structures, 24*7- Water Supply Scheme ( from Intake to WTP to Distribution network), Sewerage Treatment Plant, Road Construction, Optical Fiber and Cable Duct laying and City Planning including execution of various Buildings such as New Mantralaya, Naya Raipur. He has also executed the Interior Design projects of offices, conference hall and customer service centers, which have been appreciated.

He has been on study tours to different countries like Columbia, Mexico, Finland, Sweden, Dubai and China.

He has attended various national and international Workshops and Seminars and has made presentations there.

He is currently HEADING Engineering Wing of NRDA which is Incharge of planning, designing and execution of all the infrastructure work of Naya Raipur. In addition to the other infrastructure for the city he is also incharge for the planning, design and execution of the World Bank Assisted BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) and NMT (Non Motorized Transport). He is incharge of planning the Smart City Project for Naya Raipur, which shall be the First Integrated Smart City in India.

He also has wide experience of the Works Procedure, Contract Management and Arbitration. Has been instrumental in finalizing the Standard Contract Document for NRDA and has also acted as Sole Arbitratrator.

P.Narsing Rao

Mr. P.Narsing Rao did his Post Graduate in Commerce and PG Diploma in Urban Development subject. Mr. Rao worked for about 30 + years in Govt. of Andhra Pradesh & Govt. of India with focus on Finance and Accounts. Mr. Rao availed VRS benefit as Manager (Finance & Accounts) during the year 2001. Mr.Rao started Urban Development Research Institute (UDRI) during August 2001 and conducted Training Programs to the various Municipal Employees focusing on "Effective Urban Governance through Increase in Municipal Revenues". Now, it has achieved newer heights. It obtained ISO 9001:2008 Certificate and developed a website www.udri.co.in.

He participated in about 250 Workshops of national and international impartance on the subject and also presented ARTICLES on various parameters of "Urban Development" in about 50 Conferences that were held in all Metro Cities of India, Belgium of Europe and Boston of USA. He developed a good rapport with Harvard Business School & MIT of Boston.

The UDRI has been a "Center of Urban Excellence" contributing to the Training & Consulting Services for the growth and Development of Urban Areas partly Smart Cities in India and abroad.

Jayesh Ranjan is the Commissioner of Industries Managing Director of the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC). Martin Rama

Martin Rama is the Chief Economist for the South Asia region of the World Bank, based in Delhi. Before that he was the Director of the World Development Report (WDR) 2013, on Jobs. Previously, for eight years, he was the Lead Economist for Vietnam, based in Hanoi. Prior to moving to operations, he spent ten years with the research department of the World Bank.

Martin Rama gained his degree in economics from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay) in 1981 and his Ph.D. in macroeconomics from the Université de Paris I (France) in 1985. Back to his home country, Uruguay, he worked in CINVE, the country's largest think tank. Mr. Sachin Sharma has Master degree in Management from New Delhi and has experience of more than 15 years in planning, execution, construction and operations in Infrastructure and energy sector. Mr. Sharma has substantial experience in Business Development in various sectors of Infrastructure in India like Energy, Roads & Highways, Railways and Urban Infrastructure. Sanjeev Thukral

Sanjeev is an IIT Delhi alumnus with more than 22 years in IT industry. As Country Sales Head and a Director at Steria India Limited, a Sopra Steria Group Company, Sanjeev leads the overall business for India Domestic market including Sales and Delivery Operations. With focus on Government and Infrastructure IT market, Sanjeev has lead various initiatives at Steria to build and launch SmartCity solutions in the areas of Intelligent Transport, Intelligent Traffic, SmartSecurity and Intelligent Solid Waste Management and eGovernance. Sanjeev frequently writes and publishes his articles and opinions in these areas. Sanjeev has held varied positions in Steria in the past including Center Head (Noida), Head of Telecom & Media Business, Head of Testing Business, Off-shore Director for Central Europe & Scandinavia, Pre-sales Head for US Business and Head of Software Architecture and Engineering. Before joining Steria, Sanjeev ran a startup company in Unified Communication space and before that worked at Tatas.

T. Chatterjee

Ph.D. in Economics (Environment); PG Diploma in International Cooperation & Development, University of Ottawa; Masters in History; IAS (1975) of Andhra Pradesh cadre. He retired in November 2012 as Secretary Government of India, Environment and Forests. In his over thirty-seven years of service, he spent seventeen years in Environment and Forests policy and management areas at State and Central levels. He was directly involved in setting up India's first PPP projects in Hazardous Waste and Bio-Medical Waste management in the years 1998-2002. He also implemented environmental zoning in Andhra Pradesh in the late Nineties, using GIS platforms and Satellite imagery interpretation.

Amol Sawant

MBA (IIT Madras), Business Analyst, India Smart Grid Forum Amol is currently working as Business Analyst at India Smart Grid Forum, a public-private partnership initiative of the Ministry of Power. He is working closely with two working groups namely "Advanced Distribution" and "Consumption & Load Control". He is actively involved in making standard framework for smart cities, in which Interdependency Matrix for various domains like Energy, Urban Mobility, Water, Sewerage, etc. and Smart City Maturity Model to capture the performance of Smart Cities over the years starting form AS-IS situation are involved. He is also key contributor to India Smart Grid Bulletin, a monthly newsletter by ISGF.

Amol earned an MBA in General Management from Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), and has a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from College of Engineering Pune (COEP).

Apurba Dhar

Architect-Planner A.K. Jain, an architect-planner, is currently involved with Smart Cities, Conservation of Cultural Heritage Yojana (HRIDAY) and Housing for All. An alumnus of Delhi School of Planning and Architecture, Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam and University of Birmingham, he was a member of the UN Habitat Research Advisory Board, and worked on UN Habitat Reports, 2009, 2011, and 2013’. He is on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Environmental Studies (UK), Advisor, UNESCO, and was an Eminent Citizen for Ministry of Rural Development. As Commissioner (Planning), he worked on the Master Plan for Delhi-2021, which won the Global Award for Excellence (Netherlands 2008) and was nominated for Prime Ministers' Award for Excellence in Public Administration (2009). He also worked on National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy (2007), National Urban Transport Policy (2006) and Commonwealth Games (2010). He is a visiting faculty at the SPA, New Delhi and authored number of books, which include ‘Smart Cities: Vision and Action, and The Idea of Green Building'.

Mehnaz Ansari

Mehnaz Ansari is the Country Representative for United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) based at US Embassy in New Delhi. She is responsible for managing USTDA’s India office operations and supports USTDA activities in advancing host country development priorities, US industry trade interest and US government foreign policy objectives. She serves as a senior advisor and professional analyst to the USTDA South Asia team to identify, evaluate, recommend and track the progress of major initiatives for USTDA grant funding to promote economic and social development and trade throughout South Asia. She also helps identify priorities for Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka for USTDA projects. Mehnaz represents USTDA on its two signature public-private partnerships in India: the U.S.-India Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP) and the U.S.-India Energy Cooperation Program (ECP).

During President Obama's India visit last month, USTDA Director Leocadia I. Zak signed agreements with three Indian state governments to mobilize U.S. industry expertise and technologies to modernize the cities of Ajmer (Rajasthan), Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh) and Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh). Aamer Azeemi

Cisco SystemsAamer Azeemi is a Managing Director with Cisco Systems in Bangalore. Architect-Planner A.K. Jain, an architect-planner, is currently involved with Smart Cities, Conservation of Cultural Heritage Yojana (HRIDAY) and Housing for All. Cisco SystemsAamer Azeemi is a Managing Director with Cisco Systems in Bangalore. Martin Rama gained his degree in economics from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay) in 1981 and his Ph.D. in macroeconomics from the Université de Paris I (France) in 1985. Back to his home country, Uruguay, he worked in CINVE, the country's largest think tank. In parallel with his World Bank duties, he was visiting professor at the graduate program in development economics at the Université de Paris I until 2005.

Architect-Planner A.K. Jain, an architect-planner, is currently involved with Smart Cities, Conservation of Cultural Heritage Yojana (HRIDAY) and Housing for All. An alumnus of Delhi School of Planning and Architecture, Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam and University of Birmingham, he was a member of the UN Habitat Research Advisory Board, and worked on UN Habitat Reports, 2009, 2011, and 2013’. Mehnaz Ansari

Mehnaz Ansari is the Country Representative for United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) based at US Embassy in New Delhi. She is responsible for managing USTDA’s India office operations and supports USTDA activities in advancing host country development priorities, US industry trade interest and US government foreign policy objectives. She serves as a senior advisor and professional analyst to the USTDA South Asia team to identify, evaluate, recommend and track the progress of major initiatives for USTDA grant funding to promote economic and social development and trade throughout South Asia. He has been the head of the India operations since January 2001. In India, Pradipta presides over 15 different manufacturing and service entities of Emerson, representing 25+ global divisions and employing over 9,000 people. Mr. Sen started his career in the International Marketing Program of General Electric (GE) in USA in 1980. He returned to India in 1987 to lead the gas turbine based power generation program at GE and went on to become the Head of GE Power Systems in India. He believes that growth, overcrowding, budget constraints and inadequate infrastructure is putting increasing pressure on cities, states and countries. Leaders of global cities and private companies are thinking of ways to improve infrastructure, create scalable systems and processes for economic growth, social development and environmental preservation. His work focuses on the role of technology especially the emergence of the internet of everything where everything is connected, and an IP-network as the underlying platform, will play a significant role in building new cities, managing existing urban and rural communities and delivering citizen services.

Mr. Aamer Azeemi holds a Master of Science degree from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Engineering from Osmania University, India. After obtaining his MS degree he spent almost 11 years in the US working with IBM Global Services, SAIC and Freeborders and later led the IT Management Group for Wipro in India.

Vince Berkhout has an Honours degree in Geography (University of Western Australia) and a Masters in Town and Country Planning (University of Sydney), and over 30 years planning experience in Australia, Hong Kong and India.

He leads AECOM India's Design, Planning + Econom ics group, based in Delhi. AECOM is a publicly-listed professional services consultancy with offices in 140 countries.

His experience includes Local and State Government and private consulting focussed on metropolitan and regional scale land use planning, masterplanning, policy, and infrastructure delivery.

Vince's recent project experience includes leading the land use planning for a High Speed Rail Feasibility Study for the Australian Government, and a strategy for the expansion of Sydney's inner city light rail. Currently he is Team Leader on a new masterplan for "New Chandigarh", and Team Leader for the Masterplan for the Global City at Manesar-Bawal on the SW edge of Delhi, to be developed along Smart City principles.

Currently he is posted as Chief Engineer NRDA on deputation at Naya Raipur since 2009.

He has the experience in Planning , Designing and Construction of Buildings, Towers, Underground structures, 24*7- Water Supply Scheme ( from Intake to WTP to Distribution network), Sewerage Treatment Plant, Road Construction, Optical Fiber and Cable Duct laying and City Planning including execution of various Buildings such as New Mantralaya, Naya Raipur. He has also executed the Interior Design projects of offices, conference hall and customer service centers, which have been appreciated.

He has been on study tours to different countries like Columbia, Mexico, Finland, Sweden, Dubai and China.

He has attended various national and international Workshops and Seminars and has made presentations there.

He is currently HEADING Engineering Wing of NRDA which is Incharge of planning, designing and execution of all the infrastructure work of Naya Raipur. In addition to the other infrastructure for the city he is also incharge for the planning, design and execution of the World Bank Assisted BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) and NMT (Non Motorized Transport). He is incharge of planning the Smart City Project for Naya Raipur, which shall be the First Integrated Smart City in India.

He also has wide experience of the Works Procedure, Contract Management and Arbitration. Has been instrumental in finalizing the Standard Contract Document for NRDA and has also acted as Sole Arbitratrator.

P.Narsing Rao

Mr. P.Narsing Rao did his Post Graduate in Commerce and PG Diploma in Urban Development subject. Mr. Rao worked for about 30 + years in Govt. of Andhra Pradesh & Govt. of India with focus on Finance and Accounts. Mr. Rao availed VRS benefit as Manager (Finance & Accounts) during the year 2001. Mr.Rao started Urban Development Research Institute (UDRI) during August 2001 and conducted Training Programs to the various Municipal Employees focusing on "Effective Urban Governance through Increase in Municipal Revenues". Now, it has achieved newer heights. It obtained ISO 9001:2008 Certificate and developed a website www.udri.co.in.

He participated in about 250 Workshops of national and international impartance on the subject and also presented ARTICLES on various parameters of "Urban Development" in about 50 Conferences that were held in all Metro Cities of India, Belgium of Europe and Boston of USA. He developed a good rapport with Harvard Business School & MIT of Boston.

The UDRI has been a "Center of Urban Excellence" contributing to the Training & Consulting Services for the growth and Development of Urban Areas partly Smart Cities in India and abroad.
